A Message from Pastor Robert
Friday, June 18, 2021
Dear MERCYhouse,
It is with a heavy yet hopeful heart that I officially resign as lead pastor of MERCYhouse effective August 31, 2021. My family and I have been so incredibly blessed in our 22 years of service. We crossed the state line of Massachusetts with our two little boys on July 15, 1999 (Kayla was born 1 year later) to begin the planting of a new church. We really had no idea what we were doing and the challenges were many, but God in his faithfulness met us at every turn. This has remained true even at this moment.
You will certainly be tempted to speculate about “Why the Krumreys left MERCYhouse”. There are many reasons for our departure. Ever since returning from sabbatical in May of 2019, we sensed that our transition was on the horizon. Upon our return, we shared with the congregation that we were thinking in terms of five years but that this wasn’t set in stone. The more that Melanie and I discussed this decision and prayed about it the more confirmed we became that the time had come. We knew that the time could come, in part, because we could see both giving and leadership growing.
Speaking of leadership. The elders have stood by me and encouraged me and have done a wonderful job leading this church alongside me. Know that they have encouraged me to stay and have nothing to do with my resignation. They have truly been friends and brothers during this entire time. I have full confidence in them as they lead the way forward. I’m also incredibly grateful for our staff team. They have amazed me with their love for Christ and his church and their daily display of hard work and excellence in serving this body. They too have my full confidence as they serve you in the midst of this transition.
In regard to where we are going next, we are in the process of exploring a couple of opportunities for continued service in gospel ministry. As soon as we are able to share more information, we will update you on our future plans.
Two weeks ago, I preached on Psalm 78:1-8 about a legacy of listening to the gospel and speaking it to the next generation. I am in awe of how God has done that here and pray that he will use this church to continue that legacy for many years to come. “That the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.” (Ps 78:6,7) Know that Melanie and I love you and that wherever we end up we will be standing with you in prayer.
May God bless and keep you all.
Love,
Pastor Robert
A Message from The Elders
Dear MERCYhouse,
Like all of you, we are saddened by the news that Pastor Robert will be leaving MERCYhouse in August. We support his decision and desire to pursue new gospel opportunities elsewhere. We love the Krumrey’s. We feel so grateful for Robert and Melanie and their years of investment into this community for the sake of the Gospel. By the grace of God their sacrifices have produced fruitful ministry through a thriving gospel-centered church in MERCYhouse. We want to celebrate the efforts God has used to establish this church, and we will pursue the remaining opportunities we have to embrace the Krumrey’s in the coming months before we part ways. We hope you will join us.
At the same time, we eagerly look forward to what God has in store for our church as we turn the page to a new chapter. We are confident in Christ alone, and on that basis we plant our hope for a bright future at MercyHouse. As you have questions, we are here to talk, so please feel free to contact us. We will also attempt to create spaces to process this change together.
Love,
The Elders of MERCYhouse
